This route was created to connect some of my favorite gravel trails throughout North Vancouver. I would describe it as trail riding connected by a few paved sections.

It starts and ends under Lions Gate Bridge, but since almost the whole section from Lynnmour area to the bridge is paved, it can be easily tweaked to end by Second Narrows Bridge. For those of you planning to take the seabus back to the city, the route goes by Lonsdale Quay. Whichever way you decide to tweak this route, I recommend riding it clockwise, as the climb is more gradual this way.

Shortly after the start, you will find some fun paths, hidden just behind people’s backyards. The climb starts through Mosquito Creek trail, one of North Shore’s hidden treasures. Fortunately, the steepest section of the climb is on the road, which makes it easier, and at the end, you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the city and the ocean. The descent that starts at Princess and continues through Bridgman Park is a true gem, as it connects Upper Lonsdale and the sea level in one almost uninterrupted gravel link.

If you decide to ride back through Lower Lonsdale, there are a few places you could stop for refreshments. Esplanade provides lots of brewery options, or if you are looking for coffee and something sweet, Nemesis and their cruffins or Parallel 49th with their Lucky’s donuts are both amazing options.

Highlights: riding by the water and meeting cute dogs at Mosquito Creek, flowy gravel descent
